Plate & Co, Colombo and Nuwera Eliy", circa 1890, average size 20 x 25.8 cm (3), 23.8 x 17.5 cm (2). Some tears on the edges or corners. A.W.A. Plate moved to Ceylon in 1887. He opened a photography studio with his wife Clara in the Bristol Hotel in Colombo in 1890. The company A.W.A. Plate & Co. will become one of the most popular studios in Ceylon.
