By 'Ali Al-Khulusi Turkey, dated 1279H. ('''=1862) Arabic manuscript of 307 leaves on beige paper, calligraphed in delicate and regular black "naskh" on 15 lines per page, opening with a beautiful double illuminated frontispiece. The beginning of each sura is preceded by an untitled gilt cartouche. Numerous marginal illuminations adorn the pages of the Quran, the verses are separated by illuminated pastilles. The titles of the suras and the inscriptions on the double frontispiece at the beginning are missing. Colophon signed Al-Sayed "Ali al-Khulusi, student of Al-Hajj Mustapha, and dated 1279H. Beautiful flap binding in morocco with gilded vegetal decoration, with case. Size: 13,5 x 9,5 cm An Ottoman Qur'an signed Al-Sayed 'Ali al-khulusi pupil of Al-Haj Mustapha, Turkey, 1279AH/1862AD. Arabic manuscript, 207ff, 15ll. to the page, written in very fine black naskh, opening illuminated frontispiece, surah headings - previously in white - missing on the gold backgrounds, signed and dated.
