He asks her to sew "strong cords to the shoes" that he sends her, and adds "Try them right away. Try them on right away so that St. John can tell me how they fit. They may be a little too big, but so much the better. I kiss you and follow your father [...]". He reiterates his recommendations further down.
- VERNET, Horace (1789-1863). Set of 2 L.A.S. Paris, October 25, 1856 and s.l.n.d. 1 p. in-4 and 1 p. in-8. One sheet on blue paper.
The military painter and painter of Africa evokes a meeting at his friend Anatole. He thanks a countess for her future visit "by coming to take part in the couscoussou of an old African colonist, very badly lodged [...]". Vernet sends a letter to General Caminard: "Two places become available at the St. Cyr school. Tomorrow it may be too late to get any more. The circumstance is urgent [...] ".
