Beautiful and rare proof of the 1st state (of 2), before the letter, formerly washed, the chine reassembled Small oblique black thread-like trace in the background above the right shoulder. Small gray dot in the bottom of the subject on the right chest, caused by a foreign body inherent in the chine. Horizontal ripples across the folio. Tears in the lower corners, with surface fracture at the lower left edge (consecutive to fading). A spot of rust in the lower margin and scattered very light foxing. Several pieces of adhesive around the edge of the folio on the verso. All margins.
Provenance: collection of the painter Ignacio Zuloaga y Zabaleta (1870-1945), then by descent.
