Nice set of texts related to the war writings and the Citadelle project. A. A complete text of 6 sheets, paginated from 1 to 6, seems to be a first version of the Lettre aux Français, very different from the final text. "Ah! my companions understand me! It is not a question here of reproaching anything to whoever it is. It is a question of saying that our country [] rests then in its living substance, not in a political exercise" And Saint-Exupéry concludes by this call: "Ah Frenchmen let us seek a common reason! B. A complete text, of 3 sheets paginated from 1 to 3, divided into ten parts numbered from a) to j), with erasures and corrections. On the notion of concept. "a) To conceive is to fix a certain structure and relation by a word. Jealousy is a concept. [] b) The simplest concepts are the concepts of objects" Etc. C. 5 lines on a sheet numbered a and entitled "Concept (continued)". D. A sheet entitled Essential Ideas; the top crossed by the drawing of an arrow. "Action against [?] takes precedence over action against the Germans. The alliance (Franco-G(?)-Russian) takes precedence over the alliance with the English. [...] Government takes precedence over army. The communist force must be a French concession. E. One sheet, with some erasures and corrections. "You cry for your ruined gardens, the barbarian has brandished his torch, set fire to your halls. He blew up your walls". F. A sheet of paper on the letterhead of the Brasserie Grand Bar Baudin in Algiers. Draft of a love letter? "while walking in the crowd in the absence of my love". G. 5 lines at the top of a sheet of paper with the Air France sticker. "And certainly my palace I will build it of lava and stones".
