JOSÉ LUIS MARTÍN GARCÍA (Málaga, 21st century) "Toro", 2018. Cast aluminium. Unique piece. Attached certificate issued by the artist. With iron base. Signed. Measurements: 40 x 80 x 23 cm; 6 x 53 x 21 cm (frame). Round sculpture representing the figure of a bull. The volumetry of the material and its rotundity contrasts with the hollowing that the artist proposes in certain areas of the animal's body. The bull lowers its head in such a way that it seems to represent the moment when it is about to charge its adversary. José Luis Martin has an extensive artistic career, having participated in numerous occasions, including Geldern, Germany, the Cultural Centre Kulturkurve Albeck, the Cervantes Culture Centre in Rabat, Morocco, the Provincial Museum of Tetouan, and in ArtSevilla, among many others. His work is characterised by the use of different media, working both in painting and sculpture. Although it is in the latter field that, to a greater extent, characterises his artistic production. His works can be inscribed in a language of a figurative character that in a certain way tends towards abstraction, although he also shows clear aesthetic influences of cubism. He always depicts living, active, moving nature, animals or people, but never still lifes or landscapes.
