Indo-Portuguese figure of the body of Christ. Ivory. India, Goa. 17th/18th century. In typical posture with arms outstretched with veins showing, the loincloth is attached to the hip with a rope, the hem is decorated with a circle and pearl bar pattern. Eyelids are lowered, mouth is open, hair and beard fall in wavy strands. Attached with copper nails to a velvet-covered board. Several fingers and part of the pinned loincloth missing.
