Very large Buddha. Wood and lacquer. Burma, Mandalay. 19th century. Standing on a very small lotus base, the hanging arms spreading the upper robe wing-like, between the fingers of the right hand a myrobalan fruit. The hems of the robe are richly decorated with flowers and vines in thayo technique and colorful mirror glass stones. Gilded over reddish-brown lacquer, the eyes made of mother-of-pearl and lacquer.
