Large figure of a male deity. Sandstone. Cambodia. Khmer Empire. Bayon style. Late 12th/13th century.
Probably Shiva. Standing, in short, finely pleated sampot with centerfold, held together at the hip with a multi-linked jeweled belt with four-petaled floral decoration. On the chest a necklace, on the arms hoops with a snake each and earrings. On the head the hair is arranged in articulated braids forming the high chignon surrounded by a string of pearls. Face reworked. Base.
