Camel, Eastern Han Dynasty China (206 BC - 220 AD), Gansu, Wuwei District H. 41 cm - L. 46 cm. Wood (spruce) polychrome The different elements of the body were carved separately and assembled. A painted decoration has also been added in black on an ochre background and indicates the eyes and the coat of the animal. The camel obviously recalls the Silk Road trade that China had with the western territories. Representations of camels are rather rare. Test C14 Ralf Kotala n°22957 Provenance: 1999-2022.
