Patrizia Italiano Ceramic sculpture plant holder with crystal and colors. Photographer Giuseppe Fricano. Patrizia Italiano is a craft artist, living in Sicily between Palermo and her Filicudi, a source of inspiration and research. Ceramics has always been her passion. Manual labor and creativity have accompanied her in every moment of her life. From a very young age she has exhibited in Milan, New York, Tokyo, the United Arab Emirates and other countries. She started working again after a long period of inactivity with new collections of sculptures, heads, plates and vases telling about Sicily in an ironic and contemporary way. Each object is made by hand, without the aid of molds or presses. He works and shapes each piece with different techniques, differently one from the other. All the ceramics are fired at a great fire with glazes and engobes or crystalline that he personally composes. The collection of " Sellers of Sicily," was born out of her love for her city, Palermo , with its markets, its smells, its foods steeped in centuries of culture and history. Mediterranea, was born out of her second love: the island of Filicudi where she has her heart; with the sea, the red earth and the blue declined in so many ways. The "Scapiddate " tell instead, women against the tide, hair in the air, but feet firmly planted on the ground. Each work is unique and may have small differences. She was selected among the world's most interesting artisans featured in the Homo Faber guide, by the Michelangelo Foundation.
