Wooden chest of drawers inlaid with cubes in Greek framing nets, opening with five drawers on three rows, the two lower ones without crosspiece decorated, in the center, with a rectangular reserve decorated with crosses and small leaves at the intersections. Mounts with cut sides and simulated flutes; cambered legs. Beautiful ornamentation of chased and gilded bronzes (missing the two later hooves). Aleppo breccia marble top (accident). Stamps of Adrien DELORME (received Master on June 22, 1748) and Pierre-Harry MEWESEN (received Master in 1766) and hallmark of the Jurande des Menuisiers Ebénistes JME. Transition from the Louis XV and Louis XVI periods, circa 1770. H. 89 cm W. 146 cm D. 63 cm Note : the collaboration of Delorme and Mewesen is proven on several chests of drawers bearing their two stamps, Delorme being singled out by his double activity of cabinetmaker and merchant. For similar chests of drawers: - Ader sale, Paris, 17,12.2014, lot 236 (unstamped). - Fraysse et Associés sale, Hôtel Drouot, 7 December 2016, lot 255 (with the same bronzes but without the drooping hands), from the Château de Versailles, delivered on 13 May 1771 by Gilles Joubert, who had subcontracted its manufacture to Mewesen, for the service of the Countess of Provence (stamped by Mewesen alone). - Art Richelieu sale, Hôtel Drouot, 21,11.2018, lot 116 (with the two stamps) - Hampel Fine art Auction, 09,12.2021, lot 65 (with both stamps) - an identical chest of drawers in the art trade (Galerie Kollenburg) with only the stamp of P.H. Mewesen; inscription in ink on the top: "M. le Dauphin" and inventory number of the Château de Fontainebleau: (crowned initials) "F.N. (?) 74/2".
