Archaic shrine figure/ ancestor figure, South Asia/ Nepal. Anthropomorphic figure in seated posture, with elbows resting on knees. The interior hollowed. Wood, carved, partial attachments of sediment/ clay or similar and other unspecified organic/inorganic materials, black soot stains. Heavily weathered in the lower part. Remains of seal at the head. H. 33,5 cm. Provenance: Peer Hultberg Collection (1935-2007), Hamburg. Ancient Nepalese shrine statue, wood, carved, earthy sediments and other, lower part heavily affected by weathering. H. 33,5 cm.
