ON A BASE WITH A FRIEZE OF POSTS
Gilded carved wood.
H. 186 cm Base. 43 cm x 43,5 cm
Chips and missing gilding.
For one (the summer), accident to the laurel garland.
Small stuccoed restorations.
- Love with a sheaf of wheat for the Summer.
- Bacchus as a child, dressed in a lion skin and topped with bunches of grapes for the Fall.
Fluted column base with a laurel garland held by three strong rings.
The base is frieze of flutes, gadroons and grooves.
On the base where is the love are carved, for one
a sickle and a pair of scissors, for the other.
These two important sculptures must have been originally
four in number.
