IN THE MANNER OF GIUSEPPE MARIA BONZIGANO (1745-1820)
BIG MIRROR OF FIREPLACE SYMBOLIZING THE AUTUMN
Piedmont, around 1790/1800.
Carved, gilded and painted wood.
H. 245 cm L. 133 cm
MISSING ABOUT 10 CM OF OAK LEAVES GARLAND
Very good condition. The mirror was brought back to replace the original one in two parts. The two small panels that seem to serve as "feet", are reported and unnecessary. Tiny lack on the top of the ribbon above the head of Ceres.
Very rich decoration of friezes with vegetal motifs. The uprights and the top are framed by a "stream of oak leaves in bundles" with two acorns and a cupule. On either side, a twisted ribbon. In the center, thirteen molded boxes with a soft pink painted background, decorated with a vine shoot with leaves and three clusters. In the middle of the upper entablature is the mask of Ceres.
