TABATIERE.
By YARSHINOFF, Saint Petersburg, circa 1810-1820.
Black tortoiseshell, cylindrical form, decorated on the lid with a miniature portrait painted on ivory representing Princess Helena Alexandrovna Cantacuzene (1781-1847), after Dinoul, preserved under a curved glass in a gold frame. The interior is in gold and bears the engraved identification of the represented character. Slight accident and small restorations, but good general condition.
Title mark: 56, St. Petersburg, circa 1810-1820.
Goldsmith's hallmark : Alexander Yarshinoff, active from 1795 to 1826.
Miniature : Diam. : 8 cm.
Snuffbox : H. : 2,5 cm - Diam. : 9 cm.
