Guy de Wendel, senator of Moselle, underlined the unique character of this publication by declaring "that Jacques Majorelle organized at his own expense perilous explorations in the Atlas region, where our soldiers had not yet penetrated, and brought back remarkable studies of landscapes that were unknown until then.
