Jacques MAJORELLE (1886-1962) Plunging view on Marrakech Oil on canvas Monogrammed, dated, located lower right (19)19 65 x 54 cm Painted in the first months of his installation in Marrakech, this oil painting expresses the the wonder of the painter in front of Marrakech, which he will make his residence. His vision is precise, his drawing almost cubist, his composition frontal and binary. He places in opposition the horizontality of the Atlas and the verticality of the minaret of Koutoubia; the pink of the clay of the walls of the medina contrasts with the green of the central garden and the glazed tiles.
