VREDEMAN DE VRIES, Jan [Works of Perspective]. Antwerp, 1563-1601. Collection of 3 suites in-4 oblong (190 x 290 mm); red tinted calf, boards decorated with gilt and cold castors, blue speckled edges (Dutch binding of the time). - Variae Architecturae Formae. Antwerp, Theodore Galle, 1601. Title, and 49 numbered engraved plates. The first 20 in medallion form with engraved decorative corners, all plates show architectural details or buildings in perspective. Complete suite of 50 plates engraved by Galle after Vredeman except the last one according to Hollstein which is by Galle himself. The series combines two suites by Vredeman, previously published in 20 and 28 plates, plus the title page. Hollstein, Etchings, XLVII, 51-71, 73-100 (3rd and last state). - Pictores, Statuarii, architecti, Latomi, et quinque principium magnificorumque virorum memor aeternae inservitis. [Antwerp] Hieronimus Cock, 1563. 27 numbered plates (including the title), and one plate without number at the end. Title page engraved in a beautiful frame composed of allegories to death, the 26 plates reproduce tombs and memorials of famous people, decorated with architectural decorations. Each plate is captioned, and signed for the most part by Cock in the plate. The last plate shows a pair of urns decorated with grotesque animals. (Plates cut at the edge and formerly mounted). Suite of 24 engraved plates, numbered, the first signed in the plate by Vredeman de Vries and Philip Galle. The plates show wells and water fountains, often built with an ingenious mechanical system and placed in a beautiful setting with magnificent views
