Early 20th century
H. 82 cm
Provenance :
Farrow Fine Art, United States
French private collection
Basketry shield in light tones, with cubist geometric volumes, oval and convex, whose frame is formed by a vertical fold in the center. Dynamizing the whole and creating a subtle game of projection of forms and volumes in space, from the surface emerge two conical protrusions in wood. The surface braided in a regular way. The Soga were organized in patrilineal chiefdoms. They live from agriculture and cattle breeding.
