A blue and white porcelain POT OF PINS (Bitong), decorated with boys in a garden landscape with inscription "Yǐ mònián jìqiū yuè yèjūncháng zhì". Yǐ mònián corresponds to the date 1679 Four-character mark shū jǐn táng zhì under cover. China Kangxi Provenance: (lú wú chūkǒu gōngsī lú qín zhāi) Lu Wu Export Company Lu Qinzhai (C .T. Loo, 1880-1957) then the Vermeer & Griggs collection. In 1976, Michael Vermeer and Alan Griggs joined forces to establish Vermeer & Griggs in Los Angeles, Alan who was already well known in the antiques trade for his knowledge of oriental rugs, Chinese porcelain, Asian art and continental antique art that included paintings, furniture, bronzes and objets d'art, became his teacher, partner and associate. For more than a decade, Mike Vermeer lectured on imperial porcelain and Chinese taste, monochromes - of which tea dust was his favorite theme - and the understanding of quality as such while continuing to refer to his partner and to other mentors like Clarence Shangraw and Margaret Medley.
