SERGE POLIAKOFF (1900-1969)
Knoedler and Berggruen, Paris 1959
Original lithographic poster in color on paper.
Size : 67,3 x 45,7 cm
French painter of Russian origin, born in Moscow, he belongs to the New School of Paris. Enrolled at the Academy of the Grande Chaumière, his paintings remained academic until the discovery in London of abstract art and the luminosity of the colors of Egyptian sarcophagi. With an art free of all representation, close friend of Kandinsky and Sonia and Robert Delaunay, Poliakoff is quickly considered one of the most powerful painters of his generation. In 2013, the Musée d'art Moderne de la ville de Paris will devote an important retrospective to him of nearly 150 works created between 1946 and 1969.
