Pair of armchairs; Regency, France, second quarter of the eighteenth century.
Carved and gilded wood.
Provenance: private collection conceived since the 1970s between London and Madrid.
Measurements: 100 x 76 x 73 cm.
Pair of armchairs with structure in wood delicately carved, gilded and polychrome, forming a game of sinuous lines, of soft aspect typical of the rococo. Each of the armchairs is supported by four cabriole legs. The armrests also have a curved profile. The backrest is decorated with synthetic scrolls in the shoulder area and with a more detailed ornamentation in the centre, dominated by the presence of a scallop, as is usual in this type of furniture. Following models of the style, it is possible to observe the architectural inspiration in the structural conception of the chair. Both chairs have beige upholstery.
