Large teapot with fancy lacquer decoration - Sino-Tibetan, 18th/19th c., bulbous copper teapot with flattened shoulder, partially gilded, body, spout and lid with red lacquer overlay, the foot is flared and decorated with an ornamented lotus leaf wreath in two rows, on the spherical wall two large reserves with frolicking Fo dogs surrounded by meandering lotus tendrils in red carved lacquer, on the neck circumferential relief border with Ashtamangala symbols, on the domed lid red lacquer decoration with tendril and meander motifs as well as crowning with a lotus leaf wreath and a lotus bud as a knob, the large ear handle scaled and decorated with an extremely imposing horned dragon's head, the curved spout also originates from the wide open mouth of a scaled dragon head (possibly also makara), lid tinned inside, gilding partly rubbed, the chain connecting lid and handle missing (small eyelets present), h.ca. 34 cm, w.ca.41 cm
