MICHEL LOUISE: (1830-1905) French anarchist and teacher, an important figure in the Paris Commune. A.L.S., L Michel, one page, 8vo, London, 28th June 1895, to Alexandre Roy, in French. Michel states that her comrades letter has given them much joy, and continues to refer to some beautiful photographs, 'c'est bien la vie depuis le reve de Desdemone vers l'ideal, et celui des pauvres sans le son vers les vieux qui leur semblent si beaux jusqu'a l'interrogation muette du gamin a la grenouille dont la vie n'est pas plus assuree que la sienne' (Translation: 'it is indeed life from the dream of Desdemona towards the ideal, and that of the poor without sound towards the old people who seem so beautiful to them, up to the mute interrogation of the kid with the frog whose life is not more assured than his'), concluding by remarking that Roy's three books have given them the greatest pleasure. With blank integral leaf. Written on feint graph paper, the letter has some age toning and several neat splits at the edges of folds, only very slightly affecting the text. G
