Rhenish wine barrel, Westerwald, end of the 19th century, gray salt-glazed stoneware, cobalt blue setting, relief decoration, richly decorated barrel with floral as well as ornamental bands, both sides depicting a female vintner surrounded by vine leaves and grapes, narrow sides with toast in a diamond-shaped reserve flanked by two maenads resp. with concentric floral pattern, richly decorated round base, top or stopper with fully plastic depiction of a bacchante leaning against a tree trunk, original tap made of pewter, plus a small wine cup, dimensions wine cask: H: 47 cm (with stopper), W: ca. 31 cm, D: 19 cm.
