Chassis No. 062967 Engine No. QJ07887 - One of the oldest 2CVs in circulation in Italy - Highly original - Excellent condition with beautiful patina of the time - Original interior, still bears original French license plate - Well documented and well known - One of the most beautiful 2CVs in circulation today - R.I.A.S.C. and ASI registered Unveiled in 1948 at the Grand Palais in Paris at the motor show, the 2CV was an immediate success. Although the design of this car dated back to before World War II, production did not start until 1949. Designed by Flaminio Bertoni and conceived by Pierre Boulanger, the 2CV was intended to be a simple car capable of meeting the needs of ordinary people, such as farmers, parish priests, and fathers of families: in fact, it was meant to be used by a wide clientele. Although it was apostrophized as ugly by the trade press, the 2CV sold for 42 years in almost 7 million units. Lightweight, economical and suitable for everyone, it became a style icon. This rare 1953 Type A is undoubtedly one of the best restored and original examples around. Appearing several times in Ruoteclassiche magazine, it represents a benchmark example for the accuracy of its restoration, carried out years ago with the advice of Michel Dedieu. Chassis number 062967 is reported to have been produced and registered in July 1953 for the French market, and it appears to have been purchased by a parish priest in Cher, France: the car still retains its hand-painted French license plate 81 CQ18, indicating its provenance from that area of France. It arrived in Italy in the 2000s and was totally restored around 2007, and has since had a busy life among Citroen enthusiast circles. Showing a beautiful patina of time the bodywork has some minor flaws due to regular and continued use over time. Painted in its original color of pastel gray AC118 with painted wheels in ivory AC113, it retains its original interior, as does the canvas soft top, well preserved over time and still of the long type. Important details such as the iron steering wheel painted black and the 4-blade fan denote a restoration aimed at maintaining absolute originality. This 2CV is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and original in circulation to date.
