1956 FIAT 1100 103/TV Chassis No. 103TV*230477* Engine No. Fiat 103.006*240769* - Competition restoration - Eligible Mille Miglia - Well-documented restoration - Matching Numbers - Original in many components - Italian registered - ASI Targa Oro Cat.A3 and CRS The 1100 lineage is undoubtedly one of those that has been able to bring the greatest luster to Fiat production both pre and postwar. Initially produced starting in 1939, the middle-class sedan from Turin was completely revamped in 1953, when the 103 was introduced. Compared to its predecessor, the new 1100 featured a load-bearing, three-box body and an auxiliary frame that supported the engine-gearbox assembly where the front suspension unit was anchored. The engine, derived closely from the previous series was a strong and reliable 1098cc inline 4-cylinder. the car's layout was otherwise traditional: rear-wheel drive, independent wheels with transverse leaf spring at the front and a rigid axle at the rear. Introduced in October 1953, the 103 TV version, an acronym for Turismo Veloce, constituted the sportiest version of this important Turin sedan. Strong with 50 horsepower, 12 more than the standard versions, obtained thanks to a higher compression ratio, Weber carburetor and a transmission shaft divided into 2 joints, it gave Fiat great prominence in competitions thanks to the many privateers who used it in the races of the time. Especially the 103/TV was the sedan to beat in races in the touring car category up to 1300cc: in fact it won its class 3 years in a row at the Mille Miglia! It served above all as a school car for many great drivers, such as Ludovico Scarfiotti, who won the Tourism class at the 1956 Mille Miglia with a 103/TV. Delivered new to Pavia, this 1100 103 TV was found in Sweden and later re-imported to Italy in 2017. Professionally restored later and completed around 2019 it has been part of the same collection for a few years now. Strong from in-depth work on the mechanics, bodywork and interior, this Fiat reflects the original configuration, retaining many details of the time and now unobtainable, such as the Bakelite steering wheel, central headlight and various friezes. Usable both for regularity races and for rallies and weekend outings, it is a formidable Italian sedan that can tell important pages of Italian racing in its golden age.
