1977 FERRARI 208 DINO GT4 2+2 Chassis No. F106CL 13334 Engine No. F106C 02896 - Accompanied by the factory booklets, including the - Warranty Card - Original tool kit - Since 1988 in the same ownership - A classic Ferrari GT 2+2 - Pesaro white plate, first Rome plate - Excellent basis for a conservative restoration, working car - 91,500 km indicated Until not too many years ago, Pininfarina was the coachbuilder with a monopoly on the design and engineering of most production Ferrari bodies. However, in the 1970s Bertone won the order to produce the new 308 GT4, an aggressive but elegant 2+2 destined to be produced from 1973 until 1980. In 1975 because of the 38 percent tax that heavily penalized cars with engines over 3 liters in displacement, Ferrari introduced the 208, which was nothing more than a 2-liter version of the 308 GT4. Compared to its bigger sister, the 208 was distinguished by a single-exit exhaust pipe, the absence of fog lamps and slightly smaller peumatics. The 208 retained the same layout as the 308 and was powered by the same 90° V8 cylinder, which, however, had a reduced bore and stroke, as did the power it delivered: 170 horsepower. Placed in a transverse rear position, it was a design by Engineer Bellei, who already designed the engine of the 158, which won the 1964 Formula 1 drivers' and constructors' world championship. The futuristic wedge-shaped lines recalled the contemporary Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini Urraco: elegant and discreet, the 208 was an excellent alternative for those customers who, in addition to sportiness, favored comfort and a more spacious passenger compartment. This 1977 example still retains its original interior, as well as the rare set of factory books, including the warranty card. In good overall condition, it has been repainted over the years to the black color it is in today. From our inspection of the car, we believe the original color was Dino Brown, although we cannot confirm this. The bodywork shows signs of use over time, and we believe cosmetic work is advisable. The car has been used occasionally in recent years, and the last overhaul was in 2008. In late 2022 the 'brake system was overhauled and both hoses and brake calipers were replaced. In February 2023 an application for ASI membership was submitted. Functioning and in good overall condition, it is preferable to perform a thorough check on the mechanics before regular use. Rare and always eye-catching as only a Ferrari can be, this 208 is ready for its new life with its new owner.
