Chassis No. 30414 Engine No. BL8421506 - Sole Italian owner since 2008 - Believed to have been used by Volvo Italy for promotional activities - Original specimen for Swedish market - Well-preserved restoration - Volvo's first station wagon - Unobtainable and rare The Volvo PV444 was the Swedish car of rebirth. Introduced in 1944 as a prototype still with World War II underway it was the Gothenburg company's promise to the nation: PV444 meant, 4 seats, 4 cylinders and 40 horsepower. Entering production in 1947 it kept its promise and experienced lasting success. The great novelty of the PV444 was the load-bearing body: this aspect spelled the end of the PV60, a car still built on the traditional spar platform. This aspect aroused protests from all those customers who preferred a car with ample cargo space for a wide variety of needs. Therefore, in 1953 the Duett was introduced: it was a real innovation in that it was Volvo's first station wagon on a load-bearing body. This P445 is an example of Swedish origin and was purchased in Italy at the Padua fair in 2008. It is an old restoration well preserved and finished in the original coloring. Well preserved but with minor signs of use it is highly original and appears to have been used as a promotional model by Volvo Italy in recent years. Functioning and reliable as only a Volvo can be, it is one of those truly immortal classics that does not feel the weight of the years.
