Chassis No. ZBB18600007701592 - One of only 2800 produced - 59,000km deemed original, certifiable by revisions in the logbook - First paint, perfectly preserved and original - Rare and hard to find - BMW powered, fully convertible bodywork - First registration book and plates, double keys The Bertone Freeclimber 2 was the legendary Turin coachbuilder's offering of a better-finished and more appealing 4x4 than the model from which the Dahiatsu Feroza was derived. Assembly took place at Bertone starting with the bare body that was sent from Japan: distinguished by distinctive, two-tone paint jobs painted almost by hand, the Freeclimber was distinguished by a 4-headlamp front grille, wide fenders with oversized tires, and a better-finished interior. All the bodywork was Bertone branded, including the double keys. Instead of the standard 4-cylinder engine, Bertone installed BMW's 1,600cc engine with 103 horsepower, which was more spirited and fun. This example was registered in January 1994 and retains its original license plates and registration book, and the history is fully documented. It has had only 5 owners and has been part of the current owner's collection since 2018. It was given a complete mechanical service in 2022 which included greasing and various adjustments and to a thorough body and interior detaling. This Freeclimber 2 is on the books a 4-seater convertible car and retains the removable rear cover. The car retains its first paint and an absolute level of originality. The mileage listed is 59,000 and from the condition and documentation is original. The car has had 5 owners in all: 1st from 94 to 96 2nd from 96 to 99 3rd from 99 to 2010 4th 2010 to 2018 5th from 2018 to present Has all its original glass present: we report that the driver's side windows are slightly damaged. Please be advised that the car is being sold with the original replacement windows. Ownership then put in a set of new Hankook Dynapro AT tires in 2022 and put in new custom-made carpets. As fun as it is rare, this Freeclimber 2 is one of the most distinctive 4x4s ever made by Bertone. An enthusiast vehicle it is perfect as a static collectible as well as a dynamic one.
