Chassis No. SBH33601 Engine No. 33601 - Rare example of Bentley's 'T Series'. - One of only 558 produced - Original color and interior, never restored - Excellently documented history since new - Captivating, usable and incredibly stylish - Regularly registered in Italy - RREC chronological extract present. The Bentley T2 was along with its sister Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, the sedan that broke with tradition and set the new course for these two iconic British Companies. The line designed by John Blatchley knew how to maintain the classic stylings of elegance, discretion and refinement, while the load-bearing body brought these British sedans into modernity. The T2 was mechanically identical to the Shadow and was equipped by the classic 6,230cc rod-and-barrel V8, which was first introduced on the Silver Cloud 2. Although there were never any official performance figures, the Bentley T2 was faster than its sister Silver Shadow: in a test done by Autocar in 1970, it reached 60 mph in less than 10 seconds. In 1977 the T2 underwent the same updates as the Silver Shadow 2 that included a front spoiler, a new air conditioning system and a new dashboard. Rare, stylish, and a pleasure to drive, the T2 is getting a major response among today's collectors. According to present RREC records, this T2 was ordered on January 27, 1977, through dealer Jack Barclay Ltd of London, who delivered it on April 18, 1978, to its first owner, a Major J.E.B. Pope of Tetbury in Gloucestershire. This T2 retains the original color scheme of Silver Sand ICI-M 151-3454 with Dark Blue leather interior VM.3209, which has never been altered over the years. This T2 comes with numerous papers and invoices documenting its history from new. Many interventions made are present, and it has all the history traced since new. As of 2010 in Italy, this Bentley T2 is one of the rare examples around today and certainly one of the even more eye-catching ones due to the interesting color scheme and well-documented history since new. It shows some signs of use but is in pristine condition and has been used occasionally by the current owner in recent years. Given the documentation present and the amount of work done, we believe this T2 is in excellent condition. We inform buyers that the car is being sold in the state it is in now and the buyer should be satisfied with the current condition.
