The Thunderbird 650 (6T) is almost identical to the Speed Twin 500, but more powerful, slightly heavier and equipped with a swingarm. Thanks to the latter, Triumph manages to make it a bit more comfortable, even if it uses an old steel frame. Nevertheless, this model remains the least powerful 650 of the brand, with only 34 horsepower at 6300 rpm. It was launched in September 1949 on the return from MONTLHERY after covering 500 miles at an average of over 145 km/h with four pre-production THUNDERBIRDs validating the project.
