BENOIS Alexandre (1870-1960), "Petrouchka
Pencil, brush, India ink and watercolor on paper. Costume study for two young cadets. Signed on the left in the middle and dated 1936. Titled in the upper right corner: "Two students of the Noble Cadet Corps". Several annotations for the costume maker.

For the revival of Stravinsky's ballet (libretto by the composer and Alexandre Benois), choreography after Michel Fokine, with Tamara Toumanova and Léon Woizikovsky, at the Ballets Russes de MonteCarlo by Colonel de Basil.
Purchased at the Laurin-Guilloux-Buffetaud-Tailleur sale on Friday 18 December 1987 at the Hôtel Drouot. The work is number 50 in the catalog.
