BERMAN Eugene (1899-1972), "Beach Scene". Ink drawing on paper. Indications on the back of the frame: "Comes from a booklet of 5 drawings of which the 7th is signed with the initials. Former collection Georges Hugnet. A drawing, appearing at the same sale, of a theme and a workmanship very close to this one, is dated 1927. Sight: 24,5x19,5cm Five characters (one standing, two sitting, two lying down) at the seaside. A boat and, further on, another shoreline with rocky masses above the water. This is reminiscent of a landscape in Ischia (like the later lot above), where the artist frequently visited and from which he was often inspired. Purchased at the Artcurial sale on Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Hôtel Drouot. The work is number 6 in the catalog.
