A student of the artist Théophile Soyer (1853-1940) as well as of the painter José Frappa (1854-1904), Countess Louise du Chaffault exhibited at the Salons des artistes français between 1881 and 1887, then at the Salon de la Société nationale des Beaux-Arts, in 1893 and 1894. Her tastes were oriented towards the troubadour style and the creation of neo-Renaissance enamels with a great wealth of detail. Here the warrior figure of the Goddess of War is framed by a magnificent decoration enhanced with gold, atlatls and grotesque masks in the taste of the famous enameller Léonard Limousin.
