Paris May 25, 1951 and November 27, 1954, 2 pages 1/2 in-4 in ink. René Char authorizes Yves Breton to resell to Gilbert Lely the letters from Char to Lely after having forgiven the latter the sale to Yves Breton of their complicit correspondence, amputating however the letter to a bastard, which appears here signed by Char. ... "The one to whom these letters were written, to tell the truth, has no name: merchant of friendship, trafficker of the trade winds of the heart, swindler to whom Hitler's persecution made a face worthy of rescue, I do not want to know.... he abuses a trust, collects my fraternal marks to make money out of it one day, in his lifetime, in my lifetime, let my nausea serve as a shroud for him...
