Parchment binding of the time with hs. title on spine (somewhat stained and bumped, spine with small tears and missing parts, block somewhat loosened). Extensive source work on the history of the Basel bourgeoisie in the early modern period, with a focus on the late 17th century; the high proportion of women to whom sermons are dedicated is striking. - Contains texts by various Basel preachers, including Alexander Wolleb (1644-1717), Friedrich Seyler (1642-1708), Andreas Merian (1659-1725), Johann Heinrich Gernler (1664-1747) , Bonaventura von Brunn (1619-1704), Johann Jakob Leucht (1601-1673), Johann Jacob Bruckner (1682-1752), Peter Werenfels (1627-1703), Johann Rudolf Wettstein (1663-1737) et al.a. - Variously browned, only in places more heavily spotted, scattered scribbles by old hand.
