French painter. He lived in Algiers for part of his childhood and discovered the sea before his father, a gendarme, was transferred to Limoges. There, he attended the School of Decorative Arts while working as a painter in a porcelain factory. He then studied with William Bouguereau and joined the navy. From his travels he brought back gouaches and drawings that he exhibited at the 1905 Salon des Indépendants. In 1922, he passed the competition to become the official painter of the Navy. He lived for a while on a barge in Paris, then returned to Limoges where he died in 1952.
His works are kept in Paris at the Musée de la Marine and in Bordeaux at the Ecole de Santé Navale.
