RARE AND IMPORTANT JADE GROUP, LATE QING DYNASTY CHINA (1644 - 1911)
carved, engraved and pierced in the forms of a representation of the Immortals Lan Caihe and He Xiangu. The iconographic choice finds fulfillment in the spatial criterion that guides the entire composition. Characteristic of the Qing Dynasty is shown in the modeling, both in the harmonious proportions that characterize the two effigies and in the presence of a single flower vase, a symbiotic synthesis of the virtues traditionally associated with the two deities. The dimensions suggest a private devotional context, where the work takes on the value of a valuable guide in the individual existential journey.
