Jean Baptiste Jules Bernadotte (Charles XIV)
Jean Baptiste Jules Bernadotte (1763-1844) was a French military man who became king of Sweden in 1818 following the decision of the Swedish Parliament. Former marshal of the Empire of Napoleon I, he departed from it and entered the sixth coalition against the French Empire by allying himself with Russia and the United Kingdom.
