VAN STRIJ, Jacob Man leaning on a cart. Late 18th c Black ink, grey wash, 44,0 x 27,2 cm, laid paper, apocryphal? ink signature at lower left. Under gilt frame (not studied outside frame). Large, skillful ink drawing depicting a farmer with a large hat, a walking stick and his dog. Stylistically and technically very similar to various other drawings by this artist in Vienna (Albertina, inv. 11005) and The Hague (RKD, inv. 0186/0000089384). Van Strij (1756-1815) was a Dutch painter, printmaker and draftsman who was mainly interested in landscapes.
