MONFALCON (Jean Baptiste): Medical History of Marshes, and Treatise on Intermittent Fevers, caused by the emanations of stagnant waters. Second edition. Paris, Béchet 1826; One volume. 12,5 by 20,5 cm. (4)-528 pages. Contemporary green half-basane, smooth spine decorated with romantic decorations, binding in good condition (rubbing on the lower cover, spine slightly darkened). Scattered foxing throughout the book. Best known for his historical works on Lyon, Jean-Baptiste Monfalcon (1792-1874), a physician by trade, wrote several medical works, including two texts on diseases caused by the marsh. In this one, he deals in particular with the marshes of Bresse, and the repercussions of these marshes on the population. Bibliography of the medical history of the marshes in fine.
