Languedocien is a dialect of Occitan spoken mainly in Languedoc and Guyenne; it has sometimes been called Languedocien-Guyennais.
The author focuses on the Bas-Languedoc and Cévennes dialects, referred to here as languedocien.
Although unanimously recognized as a reference, this dictionary is still being debated today, with some highlighting the important work accomplished to preserve idioms and expressions in Occitan, while others reproach the author for presenting Occitan only in the form of a patois aimed at correcting "gasconisms".
