EGYPTOMANIA A carved wooden sideboard painted in polychrome and gilded with scenes from the life of Pharaoh and opening by three small doors in front, marble top portor surmounted by a double representation of Horus spreading his wings and resting on four pillars hathoric joined by a strut with representation of the god Amun with ram head. 214cm x 57cm and height 133cm. Probably Belgian work around 1920 during the revival of Egyptomania following the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamen by Howard Carter. N.B. : This piece of furniture was exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Ottawa, Canada, during the exhibition " Egyptomania, Egypt in Western Art : 1730-1930 " from June 17 to September 18, 1994.
