Bernard Van Riesen Burgh EXCEPTIONAL AND VERY RARE SET OF TWO MIDDLE DOLLAR BUREAU FORMING ACCOUNTANT TABLES OF THE REGENCE ERA, one stamped BVRB for Bernard VAN RIESEN BURGH The set is composed of two parts. Lower part forming the support of the desk composed of four legs with double curves revealing a drawer in the front, the top veneered in rosewood for one and the other covered with a Chinese lacquer; the legs ending with finely chased bronze shoes. Removable upper part in the form of a donkey's back fitted into the base which was used to be placed in the bed of the nobility to write its correspondence. The back of donkey has a tilting writing case revealing five curved drawers and a secret drawer hidden by a sliding shelf. The whole of these two pieces of furniture are made of violet wood frieze of the period. Entrances of keyhole and original locks. These two desks would come from a particular order of the Regency period. To this day, no pair in the shape of a donkey's back is known on the market. In this case, we are in possession of exceptional pieces, unknown to the 18th century art market. The furniture is in a perfect state of conservation and does not include any major restoration.
