ƒƒ RENÉ BOIVIN - YEARS 1927-1933 IMPORTANT CLIP AMETHYSTS It consists of a vermeil bow adorned with oval amethysts of different shades in a paillon setting. Mounting of the double-clip system in 18K pink gold. Hallmark of the House of René Boivin, after a design by Suzanne Belperron. Gross weight: 72,82 gr. Dimensions: 7.8 x 6.5 cm. - BARBARIC AND ETHNIC: STRENGTH AND SIMPLICITY From the same private collection, these two pieces of jewelry in vermeil and amethysts tell us the beautiful story of the "René Boivin style". Whenever I was asked about the identity of this style, I often thought of this type of jewelry made of simple materials with expressive and elegant shapes. This is a good opportunity to insist on the sources of inspiration of the two geniuses of the place. Those of Mrs. Jeanne Boivin and her pronounced interest for the Antique and Medieval taste and that of her great designer Mrs. Suzanne Belperron who knew how to capture the vibration of her time for the abstract art and to associate it with the productions of ethnic art. Indeed, this medieval bracelet is a tribute to Assyrian, Celtic and Merovingian jewelry forming the great family of "barbarian jewelry", while the important horn clip in amethysts is a masterful reinvention of African jewelry, probably inspired by jewel, probably inspired by a Beninese bracelet. - - ƒƒAn amethyst and guilded silver brooch by Rene Boivin. French assay mark and Rene Boivin maker's mark, after a drawing by Suzanne Belperron. Gross weight : 72,82 gr. Dimensions : 7,8 x 6,5 cm. - BARBARIAN AND ETHNICITY : STRENGHT AND SIMPLICITY Issued from the same private collection, these two vermilion and amethyst pieces narrate the great story of the style René Boivin. Each time I was asked about the identity of this style, it was often to this category of jewels I was thinking about : pieces made from simple materials combined with an eloquent and elegant structure. Now is an opportunity to address the influences of the two geniuses standing before us. First, the genius of Mrs Jeanne Boivin and her affinity to the Ancient and Medieval arts and secondly, the genius of her designer, Mrs Suzanne Belperron who was skilled enough to capture the fluctuations of her time for abstract art and associate it with artistic indigenous productions. Indeed, this medieval bracelet is a tribute to Assyrian, Celtic and Merovingian jewels, forming the great family of "Barbarian Jewelry", as for the large corn clip in amethyst, it is a superb reinvention of the African jewelry, most likely derived from a Benin bracelet. - - ƒƒƒ: An additional charge of 20% exclusive of tax (i.e., 24% including tax) will be levied in addition to the usual charge to the buyer.
