After BANKSY (1974) DISMALAND, "3D Rat", cardboard signed with a stamp at the bottom right and numbered 21/50 on the back, 30 x 22 cm. * The work is presented with the original entrance ticket and the Map Dismaland. Banksy is a graffiti artist known for his urban stencils. He hides his true identity. Banksy was born in 1974 near Bristol. He would have been influenced by the underground scene of Bristol and its relationship between artists and musicians. It is in Bristol that Banksy realized his first works. These stencils often mix politics, humor and poetry. The criticism of the art market and the auction system is a recurring theme for the British artist. In 2015, he opened the Dismaland theme park in collaboration with fifty artists. Located in England, this park is meant to be a parodic and sinister version of Disneyland. It is a real open-air museum. During an auction at Sotheby's in London, his mythical painting Girl with Balloon self-destructed live just after being bought. A document shredder hidden in the frame went off as soon as the auction ended, partially destroying the canvas and completing the hoax.
