Opera, in tres partita tomos : in quibus habes non pauca antehac Latinis non exhibita. Basel, Andreas Cratander, 1528. 3 volumes in one folio, sow skin stamped on wood, multiple framings of fillets and cold scrolls, four-ribbed spine, smooth edges, traces of clasps (Germanic binding of the time). First complete edition of the works of St. Cyril, bishop of Alexandria from 412 to his death in 444, published by the Basel humanist and reformer John Oecolampadus (1482-1531). Superb humanist printing in round letters, decorated with the printer's mark on the title and last leaf of each volume, historiated initials and two beautiful woodcut frames opening the text in volumes I and III. The copy contains the complete dedicatory epistle, in 8 introductory pages; it has been reduced to 4 pages in some copies. Beautiful Germanic binding in stamped sow skin. Missing the last leaf of the first volume (typographical mark). Binding stained, skin missing from upper cover and second board, clasps missing. VD16 : C6566.
