In-4, fawn morocco, double frame of mosaic listels in black morocco decorated with friezes of small gilt irons and bordered with gilt roulettes and fillets, central rectangle decorated with small irons of gilt branches in the spandrels and around an oval medallion of mosaic black morocco, smooth spine decorated with small irons, fillet on the edges, gilt edges (Binding of the time). Important edition of the History of Herodian giving in princeps edition the new History of Zosimus. The work is printed on two columns presenting, in the first part, the Greek text of Herodian and its Latin translation by Ange Politien, revised by Henri Estienne and increased by his corrections, additions and comments in the margins; and, in the second part, the first two books of the Histoire nouvelle de Zosime, in Greek and in Latin translation. The other four books of this important source for the history of the last centuries of the Western Roman Empire were printed in Greek only in the 1590 edition.
